We opened our first shop in Tavistock Pannier Market in 1989. We are third generation butchers who were born and bred in Brentor (about 4 miles outside of Tavistock) where some of our meat originates. We opened a second shop in Bere Alston in 2004 and then a third purpose built large display shop in Pepper Street in Tavistock which opened in 2010. We closed the Pannier Market shop in May 2013 as the majority of our customers now come to Pepper Street to shop.

All of our meat is free-range and locally sourced from the Devon/Cornwall border. John picks our cattle and sheep from local farms and markets so best quality is assured at all times. John has also judged at several shows over the years. We mostly use native breeds of beef including South Devons, Ruby Reds, Aberdeen Angus, Aberdeen Angus Cross, Herefords and Galloways.

Our pork is also from the Devon/Cornwall border and we occasionally have rare breeds such as Gloucester Old Spot and Saddlebacks. These are also available for special order if required.

We make our own corned beef and cooked pies and cook our own hams etc.

Our dairy section includes free-range eggs and cream, milk and butter from Dunn's Dairy.

If there's anything you require that you can't see listed, please ring or email and we will do our best to accommodate you.
